Mastercard Foundation, one of the largest foundations in the world, works with visionary organizations to advance education and financial inclusion to enable young people in Africa and Indigenous youth in Canada to access dignified and fulfilling work. Established in 2006 through the generosity of Mastercard when it became a public company, the Mastercard Foundation is an independent organization separate from Mastercard. The Foundation has offices in Toronto, Kigali, Accra, Nairobi, Kampala, Lagos, Dakar, and Addis Ababa.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are seeking an investment professional to join our investment team and play an integral role supporting the diversification and investment of the Foundation’s portfolio. Based in Toronto, the successful candidate will be responsible for investment due diligence and portfolio management and monitoring across a wide range of asset classes with a focus on private markets, including private credit and private equity.
The successful candidate will have previous experience at a foundation, endowment, or pension fund evaluating new investment opportunities, conducting detailed financial modeling and in-depth quantitative and qualitative due diligence, and working in a team environment. They will have a strong interest in, and understanding of, capital markets, private credit, private equity, deal structuring, and relevant investment funds.
As an essential member of a highly integrated investment team, they will make substantial contributions to the group's efforts and decisions concerning private market investment strategies, manager selection, asset allocation and risk management, as well as operational initiatives. As part of this role, they will utilize analytical frameworks and develop unique analyses to assess private credit and private equity funds in terms of strategy, performance, organization, terms, underlying portfolio companies, and other key attributes. They will also assist in producing investment recommendations and due diligence reports to support investment decisions.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 3-5 years of relevant investment experience with a track record of success with a focus on private markets including credit.
- Undergraduate degree or advanced degree in a relevant field; progress towards CFA designation/CFA designation a plus
- Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Keen attention to detail and focus while working both independently and in a team under tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills to independently interact with peers and fund managers
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, integrity and initiative
- Outstanding organizational ability, process awareness and decision-making skills
- Collaborative team skills, as an excellent listener, learner, planner, and contributor
- Demonstrated command of verbal and written communication and strong business writing skills
- Willingness to travel as required.

This role is a hybrid position, with a requirement of 3 days onsite at our office in Toronto, Ontario.
