IT Help Desk to join our growing team!
As the only private logistics terminal in Canada with CP & CN mainlines onsite, ATL is strategically located to help shippers, manufacturers, and producers prepare their commodities for export or import. In the position of
IT Help Desk, you will be the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance. This role combines technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-first attitude to ensure our technological ecosystem runs seamlessly and supports our organizational goals.
In This Position, You Will Be Responsible For
- Providing first-line IT support by addressing and resolving employee inquiries related to hardware, software, and network issues.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting technical problems, ensuring timely resolution or escalation to specialized IT teams.
- Setting up and configuring employee devices, including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and printers.
- Maintaining and managing user accounts, access permissions, and security protocols.
- Collaborating with IT teams to implement system updates, migrations, and enhancements.
- Documenting IT processes, solutions, system configuration, and user guides for reference and future updates and frequently asked questions to build a robust knowledge base.
- Monitoring system performance and proactively addressing potential issues to minimize downtime.
- Supporting IT projects, including system rollouts and process automation initiatives.
- Developing training materials and provide user training to help employes to use new systems and tools.
- Ensuring systems adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements, implementing measures to protect sensitive information.
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Basic Administration
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders, team members, and management to address technical needs.
- Contributing to IT projects and operational needs on an occasional or ongoing basis.
- Accurate record keeping by managing and maintaining a filing system, both paper and digital for compliance with company policies.
- Provide support and coordination to the operations department as needed on an occasional or ongoing basis.
Education Requirements
For success in this role, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or Information Technology.
- Post Secondary courses in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Information Technology would be considered an asset.
- Diploma/relevant network engineering designation e.g. (CompTIA Network+, CCNA).
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an IT support or help desk role.
- Industry-specific experience, such as logistics or supply chain, is an asset.
Skill Requirements
- Strong work ethic and self-motivated, with an ability to work independently using sound judgment and initiative.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Azure, and Exchange.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities across Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms.
- Familiarity with programming languages (SQL, PHP, HTML).
- Experience with VMware, DNS management tools (e.g., BIND), and backup systems (e.g., Veeam).
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Fusion is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and ability to alphabetize, numerically rank, file, sort and batch documents and maintain general record keeping and filing systems.
- Knowledge of general office practices, protocols, and procedures.
- Must be dependable and reliable in attendance, punctuality, and task completion.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have great time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
