The product is branded as Thrive in Canada. It holds the first or second position In 14 of the top 17 global markets, with the lozenge/mini-lozenge format holding top position globally. Nicotinell ranks among the top 15 biggest brands among all OTC brands in Europe (excluding Russia, Italy) and ranks No.32 among all OTC global brands (excluding USA). The current business is € 250mn globally and will form the foundation of Dr. Reddy’s future consumer health platform.
About the Role
The Head of Country will be responsible for overseeing the management and coordination of commercial and marketing activities (through a full service partner) in Canada. This role involves leading a team including marketing, optimising cluster performance, ensuring seamless communication between the countries and the Basel HQ and driving operational efficiency. The Head of Country will also focus on resource management, sustainability and data collection. Strong leadership, strategic planning skills and technical expertise will be key to success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Full commercial and marketing responsibility for Canada, including national P&L
- Skilled in collaborating with full distribution service partners to drive efficient supply chain operations and ensure seamless product and service delivery.
- Line responsibility for a small team, including a marketing head
- Working initially with a third-party sales distributor, but later setting up own sales force when commercially viable
- Supervision of e-commerce platforms
- Implementation of a local NPD programme in partnership with Basel HQ
- Identification of M&A opportunities
- Special projects as requested
Required Skills
- Leadership & Management: Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, regulatory, etc.) and drive performance in Canada
- Market Expertise: Deep understanding of the consumer healthcare market in Canada, including market trends, consumer behaviour and competitive landscape
- Sales & Marketing Strategy: Proven experience in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies, with a focus on brand management, customer engagement and expanding market share
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local regulatory requirements for consumer healthcare products and ensuring compliance
- Financial Acumen: Ability to forecast sales, manage budgets and drive profitability while optimising resource allocation
- Customer-Centric Focus: Expertise in building customer relationships, understanding consumer needs and tailoring products to local markets
- Communication & Negotiation: Strong communication and negotiation skills to collaborate with internal teams, external partners and healthcare professionals
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify growth opportunities, expand product reach and lead the business towards achieving both short-term goals and long-term objectives
- Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of cultural nuances in Canada to adapt strategies and marketing efforts effectively
