Job Title: Financial Analyst
Location: Edmonton, onsite

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, as a Budget Analyst, you will work in a small team responsible for collecting and analyzing financial data to produce ministry forecasts and budgets.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the Ministry budget and assisting with preparation quarterly forecasts.
- Collaborating and working closely with program area clients at various levels to analyze, validate and explain spending trends against budget, develop the forecast and explain the variances.
- Consolidating and analyzing large amounts of financial information and communicating to various stakeholders differently depending on the audience.
- Maintaining and monitoring financial system coding and reports.
- Reviewing contracts and grants for budget availability.
- Preparing government Estimates, Committee of Supply Briefings, Annual Report and Quarterly Fiscal Updates.
- Providing clear and concise financial advice and guidance to client areas.
- Responding to ad-hoc and urgent financial requests, and
- Other duties as required.
Responsibilities:
- Relevant post-secondary education in the areas of business administration, accounting or finance, Acceptable education includes degrees, diplomas and certificates.
- Demonstrated experience with MS office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience creating and managing project forecast and actual budgets.
- Pursuing CPA designation.
- Experience with Business Intelligence analytical tools such as, Excel PowerPivot, Cognos Cubes, and Microsoft PowerBI.
- Experience within a Canadian Public Sector organization.
- Experience providing strategic advice related to organizational structure, roles, and skillsets required to ensure successful delivery of public sector outcomes
- Relevant experience in a role similar to this. Experience must be applicable to this role.
