Role overview:
As the Talent & Development Coordinator, your main responsibility is to assist our teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You provide support and co-ordination in the consistent and effective application of policies, procedures, and practices of Human Resources and Health & Safety for all Team Members. Other responsibilities include implementation and continuous improvement of Health and Safety programs by regular auditing, producing corrective actions plans, identifying key risks, producing reports, coaching and working with operations leaders to ensure full compliance. You will also support Employee Relations, Recruitment, Employee Engagement, Training and other tasks as required. Previous experience in a Human Resources environment within a manufacturing environment is essential. This is an on the floor (high visibility/ floor presence) position, spending time on the production floor on a daily basis.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Enhance Health and Safety awareness throughout the bakery, actively participates as an H&S advocate as required.
- Ensure Occupational Health and Safety compliance with health and safety laws and regulations
- Actively support & coach leaders to improve communication, safety behaviors and activities on the production floor to improve and attain a goal of zero injuries.
- Performs daily safety evaluations, site level self-audits, run site safety committee and ergonomics programs
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of incidents including root-cause analysis and provide probable causes of incidents and recommendations for resolution and appropriate corrective and preventative measure.
- Partner closely with leaders, T&D & key stakeholders to determine alternate duties and jointly manage the return to work program
- Assists in the identification and analysis of trends. Communicates observations and provides suggestions for incident reduction measures
- Assists with risk assessments, site inspections and identification of potential hazards
- Ensuring contractors have risk assessments, JSAs, training etc when completing work on the property
- Lead in-house training with operations team to address H&S issues and risks and transfer knowledge
- Provide internal support for Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) and Non-Work-Related Incident cases.
- Work closely with Leaders and T&DBP to determine current and upcoming staffing needs.
- Support and participate in recruitment efforts onsite, collaborating with the Talent Acquisition team as required.
- Manage and participate in Internal Job positing process.
- Manage relationship, sourcing and communication of Agency partners as required.
- Responsible for overseeing all agency communications; including sharing of WB policies, protocol and initiatives and getting feedback to create an action plan always striving for continuous improvement.
- Conduct investigations to resolve employee relations and labor relations issues, and ensuring positive relations are maintained
- Support / coach Leaders in regards to Team Member employee relations
- In conjunction with Leaders & T&DBP, participate in most Progressive Disciplinary situations related to Team Members.
- Actively involved with Team Member Engagement efforts, survey, action plan and events.
- Establish and sustain positive employee engagement through effective communications with all employees in order to foster an environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems
- Assist with T&D/Operations projects & events as assigned

Requirements:
- Minimum 2-3 years related experience in HR, in a Manufacturing Environment essential.
- 1-2 years related experience in Health & Safety, in a Manufacturing Environment and asset.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field
- Proven competency in fostering a Health & Safety environment
- Proven facilitation, verbal and written communication skills along with superior interpersonal and organizational skills required to deliver training and coaching to teams and individuals at all levels within the organization
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment within specified timeframes and where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential
- Good understanding/working knowledge of HR policies/procedures, benefits and employee relations & legislation.
- Proven competency in the operation of key office software and productivity tools such as: MS Office suite of tools
- Experience with Health & Safety initiatives (previous experience as a H&S committee member required)
- Health & Safety certification highly desired
- Experience building relationships, collaborating at all levels in the facility
- Proven history of leading and influencing positive change relative to employee engagement, health & safety programs, polices and initiatives
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Traveling to other Ca Wonderbrands bakeries may be required on a quarterly / bi-quarterly basis
