Job Description
We are currently seeking a Social Media Communications Student to join J.D. Irving’s Corporate Communications team to support its Moncton-based companies communications activities.
The selected candidate will work within the Communications team and collaborate closely with individuals across multiple businesses to develop, support, and implement social plans.
The ideal candidate for this role is a team player, understands best practices in communications, has a talent for writing and storytelling, and recognizes the importance of maintaining brand standards.
This is a 4-month work term from May 2025 to August 2025.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day creation, publishing and monitoring of online channels and platforms for J.D. Irving, Limited and its Moncton-based companies.
- Participate in editorial meetings with members of communications and social media teams.
- Maintain and update brand guides for social/online content tools. Work with internal clients and subject matter experts to create timely, relevant, and impactful content to build brand awareness and engage audiences in new ways.
- Monitor and track performance to produce reports that identify best performing content and provide analysis on insights and KPIs. (Experience or willingness to learn how to use enablement tools for content creation, management, publishing, listening, engagement, and reporting).
- Support social media efforts across all J.D. Irving’s Moncton-based companies to increase brand awareness online and grow the online presence of J.D. Irving companies.
- Other duties/projects as assigned. May require some work on evenings and/or weekends.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education toward marketing, communications, or digital media.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Quick learner with strong copywriting and content creation skills and with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across a wide range of teams.
- Excellent team player who is committed, optimistic, enthusiastic, and creative.
- Written and spoken proficiency in English.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms and analytics tools (Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram)
- Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
- Ability to analyze data and provide evidence-based recommendations.
