Position Overview
Our client is looking for an environmental coordinator for a large mine expansion project in the Interior of BC. The Environmental Coordinator will play a pivotal role in overseeing environmental compliance and sustainability efforts throughout the mine expansion project. This individual will work closely with project teams, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders to ensure the project is executed responsibly and in line with environmental policies.
Further Responsibilities Include:
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations and company policies.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and implement environmental monitoring programs. Prepare regular reports and documentation for regulatory submissions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with government agencies, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders to address environmental concerns and maintain open lines of communication.
- Risk Management: Identify potential environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
- Project Support: Provide environmental expertise during planning, construction, and operational phases of the mine expansion.
- Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with environmental standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Training and Awareness: Deliver environmental training programs to project staff and contractors to promote best practices and regulatory compliance.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are an asset.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably in mining or large-scale industrial projects.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes in BC. Familiarity with mine reclamation, water management, and biodiversity conservation is preferred.
- Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills. Proficiency in GIS software and environmental monitoring tools is an advantage.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license and [specific certifications, if applicable, e.g., QEP, EP, etc.].
