Lead Project Manager, Environmental and Government Relations (1-3 year contract)
Salary up to 165,000++ paid vacation
This is a HYBRID role (working approx. 3 days per week in the office). The office is DT Toronto and it is a 5 minute walk from Union Station.
The successful candidate can be an independent contractor or be payrolled via the organization.
The OPPORTUNITY: Our client is an organization that has a long, stable history in Toronto and it is both environmentally and socially responsible. They are seeking a Lead Project Manager (Environmental and Government Relations) to manage a comprehensive 3 year project. You will oversee work done by a variety of consultants/ consulting teams, overseeing project budgets, managing communication between internal and external stakeholders as well as evaluating proposals for supporting work. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the evaluation of proposals for supporting work and ensure compliance with Procurement.
- Track overall project schedule, produce monthly project reports, prepare Board memos as needed, and track budget summaries.
- Oversee the work of multiple planning consulting teams and ensure the project is completed on time and within allocated budget.
- Work collaboratively with consulting firms to oversee multiple internal and external stakeholders and ensure engagement with multiple levels of government.
- Administer all consultants’ contracts for work associated with the project.
- Work closely with other project leads on the overall strategy and coordination between the project plan.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team and employees through all stages of the project, including securing their input, comments and direction to ensure successful delivery of the project.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders during all phases of the project to ensure their requirements and input are incorporated into the Comprehensive Project Plan.
- Manage performance of consultants and contractors in the delivery of project scope elements.
- Develop and maintain schedules and monthly cash flow for the project.
- Prepare and provide project status updates to Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors, as needed.
- Chair project meetings and follow-up with outstanding tasks.
- Arrange public consultation meetings with consultants and the communications team.
Qualifications:
- College or University degree in Environmental Management/Planning/Engineering field is a definite asset.
- Minimum ten years of experience in managing large scale Comprehensive projects.
- Experience working with government and/government agencies on delivering projects.
- Experience working on Environmental Assessments at the Federal/Provincial/Municipal level of government or private sector, would be an asset.
- Proven track record of successfully managing environmental planning projects in the past 10+ years, on time/on budget.
- Proven experience and understanding of project delivery principles.
- Superior interpersonal skills, able to interact with all levels in a professional manner, able to build relationships.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Highly organized, possessing a solid ability to plan and follow up.
- Possesses sound judgment and the ability to effectively solve problems and/or escalate accordingly.
- Resourceful self-starter, able to work independently and within a team environment.
- Able to handle a variety of projects and manage multiple demands and deadlines.
- Able to multi-task and adapt easily to change.
- Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook,Microsoft Project and Auto CADD.
