Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President of Talent and Culture, the Senior Director of Learning and Development (L&D) will play a key leadership role in shaping and executing the organization’s learning and development strategy. This position is focused on cultivating a culture of continuous learning that drives both individual and organizational growth. The Senior Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership, HR, and key business stakeholders to ensure that L&D initiatives align with the company’s strategic goals and contribute to business performance.
In this role, the Senior Director will set the vision for advancing technical and leadership capabilities across the organization. They will build and implement innovative, future-focused, and blended learning approaches that engage and empower colleagues, driving measurable outcomes. By leveraging agile learning strategies, this role will ensure that L&D solutions are aligned with business objectives and responsive to emerging trends, all while maintaining consistency and alignment with the broader Learning Strategy and the specific needs of key business functions
Responsibilities:
Lead all aspects of the learning lifecycle in support of Talent Development Programs including learning strategy, curriculum design, content development, delivery support, measurement, and maintenance
Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap and comprehensive learning and development strategy that proactively addresses current and future employee skill gaps while aligning with the organization's business goals and anticipating future needs
Provide strategic direction for all learning and development initiatives, including leadership development, colleague training, talent management, and career progression programs.
Lead and mentor a high-performing team of learning and development professionals, driving a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Oversee the design, development, and implementation of learning programs spanning across retail, distribution centers and corporate offices, ensuring content is relevant, engaging, and effective.
Design learning solutions that are scalable and applicable for all levels, from frontline associates to senior management.
Partner with business leaders identify learning needs and create customized programs to address skill gaps, leadership development, and organizational priorities
Collaborate with HR teams to ensure L&D programs support recruitment, onboarding, and colleague retention
Assess learning strategies and tools to ensure they are meeting the intended objectives and make necessary adjustments or recommendations for improvement as needed
Establish clear metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of learning programs and ensure alignment with business outcomes.
Lead L&D efforts that support organizational change initiatives, helping colleagues adapt to new technologies, processes, and business strategies.
Drive a culture of learning that encourages innovation, adaptability, and resilience in the workforce.
Lead all aspects of costs and budget for programs within area of responsibility
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education with specialization in adult education, human resources, or organizational development.
10+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, with a proven track record of designing, implementing, and scaling successful L&D programs.
7+ years of experience leading and managing a team of L&D professionals.
Deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and learning technologies.
Demonstrated ability to use design thinking principles and concepts in the development of learning centric solutions
Strong business acumen and ability to align L&D initiatives with strategic business objectives.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Ability to communicate, negotiate, influence, and build collaborative relationships at all levels of the business
Ability to adapt positively to a changing environment and manage shifting priorities
Excellent communication, coaching, project management, organizational and leadership skills
