Overview of Position
The Manager, Investigations, contributes to the Canadian Safe Sport Program (CSSP) Investigations team by ensuring the investigation process aligns with CSSP Rules and internal policies. Under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Investigations, the Manager plays a key role in overseeing investigation procedures, coordinating case management systems, and ensuring compliance with policies and timelines. The Manager handles logistical aspects of the team’s operations, engages with stakeholders, and contributes to policy development and process improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Investigations and Documentation
- Manage investigation timelines and ensure compliance with the CSSP Rules.
- Communicate with law enforcement agencies, child welfare services, and international partners as needed.
- Redact documents prior to sharing with the parties to an investigation or prior to publication, as appropriate and as necessary.
- Liaise with Case Managers to provide copies of documentation to be sent to the Reporter/Interested Party and to the Respondent.
- Review and assess investigation reports and other investigation documentation.
- Assist with follow-up actions following receipt of an incomplete or insufficient investigation report.
- Monitor implementation and compliance with provisional measures and sanctions.
- Provide input to legal counsel and senior leadership on determining sanctions.
- Ensure victim support services are provided, in collaboration with the Victim/Support Services team.
- Support for reviewing/drafting notices, letters, and communication related to investigations.
- Assist with requests for reviews by the Safeguarding Tribunal and appeals of sanctions.
- Manage internal/external investigators and assign trained investigators to cases.
- Coordinate logistical requirements for ongoing training in trauma-informed responses.
CSSP Rules and Policies
- Develop and implement investigation policies and procedures in line with CSSP Rules.
- Ensure compliance with procedures and timelines.
- Recommend policy amendments based on feedback.
Case Management Systems
- Develop internal processes and deliver training on the case management system.
- Manage intake and case management systems, collaborating with IT.
- Track internal metrics and analytics for reported cases.
- Support research efforts by assessing trends and offering insights.
CCES Quality Management System
- Be aware of responsibilities within the Quality Management System.
- Comply with quality system processes and recommend process changes.
- Identify and manage risk mitigation strategies.
- Log stakeholder feedback in the Quality Database.
General Responsibilities
- Assist with implementing a health and wellness model for the Investigations team.
- Participate in committees and external meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Competencies
- University degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Over one year of relevant experience.
- Proven success in achieving project goals and fulfilling multiple deliverables.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Knowledge of the Canadian sport community.
- Understanding of ethical issues impacting sport.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Professional conduct, sound judgment, and leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy.
- High awareness of confidentiality and integrity.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent English and French communication skills.
