Position OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director of Project Services and (when assigned to a project) the Project Manager, the EIT is responsible for providing support and technical expertise during all phases of the project lifecycle.
The position we are seeking to fill will be based out of our Head Office located at 34282 Manufacturers Way, Abbotsford, BC or our Field office in Fort St John, or Sparwood, BC. The role will require the candidate to work shifts on site in the field at various locations in Western Canada during projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or equivalent
Key Responsibilities
This role will support three main aspects of the business as follows:
OPERATIONS
- Review, plan, and track projects with the Project Manager to ensure technical aspects of job are clear
- Develop and maintain the construction schedule. Liaise with General Foremen to measure progress against the agreed schedule and assist in the development of mitigation strategies as necessary
- Develop detailed and accurate construction forecasts and ensure all relevant planning meets construction objectives
- Produce detailed written construction reports in accordance with client/contract requirements
- Liaise with clients on all technical aspects of the project and provide a focal point for all technical queries for associated subcontractors and suppliers
- Prepare all Inspection and Test Plans and assist with compilation and submittal of Quality Control documents and Quality assurance activities
- Ensure all project quality requirements are adhered to and that company procedures are followed
- Support the project quality control function, ensuring all quality documentation, including RFIs and NCRs, are completed accurately, in accordance with the contract, and in a timely manner
- Assist Project Manager in identifying and developing necessary Change Orders
- Produce complete timely and accurate project cost reports
- Assess risks and hazards involved in tasks and identify methods to manage those hazards to prevent incidents, injury and damage
- Perform other related tasks
- Work on site as required
ESTIMATING & PROPOSALS
- Collate, analyze and summarize client requests for proposal
- Distribute proposal material to team members
- Assist in the assembly of large and small proposal response materials
- Assist in the organization and preparation of business development materials to support proposals
- Web research of work sites and project logistics
- Quantity take offs and data entry support for estimating team
- Drafting of quote letters and requests for 3rd party pricing
- Collation, summary and analysis of historical estimating and construction field data
FINANCE
- Project controls, including maintaining projected cost updates
- Ensuring committed costs are cleared and received in a timely manner
- Job-set up and creating jobs in Spectrum ERP system
- Accurate and timely entry of change orders into Spectrum
- Developing and maintaining a sound understanding on the various functionalities of Spectrum as it relates to the Job Cost module
