What We Are Looking For/Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Events, the Event Officer will develop, cultivate and steward relationships with event organizers and volunteer committees to support their efforts and maximize fundraising potential. The Event Officer will support the overall project management and fundraising success of 1 Signature Fundraising Event that raises $2M or more and lead 1-2 Partnership Events or significant Foundation events as assigned.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
As an Event Officer you will:
- Plan and execute Foundation signature events as the project lead, working in partnership with the Senior Manager, Events and other key stakeholders
- Work closely with volunteer committees or corporate partners, ensuring that the skill, capabilities and strengths of volunteers and volunteer leaders are recognized and maximized
- Develop and execute a detailed project plan including identifying and assigning responsibilities to Foundation project team members
- Lead preparation for and running of committee meetings for assigned signature event with support from event coordinator and project team
- Collaborate with the Philanthropy and Stewardship team to ensure the appropriate engagement and stewardship of key corporate partners
- Identify, and collaborate with leadership to approach new event sponsors and community engagement opportunities
- Manage project plans including scope, budgets, schedules and related activities
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within the Hospital, Foundation, community groups and organizations in building awareness and retaining their support
- Represent the Foundation at external events, including meetings, luncheons, and recognition activities
- Work closely with volunteer committees, ensuring that the skill, capabilities and strengths of volunteers and volunteer leaders are recognized and maximized
- Mentor and collaborate with team members to work on events and assist with the development and growth of the team
- Reporting to or regular check-ins with event leads (Partnership, Signature or Community Events)
- Other duties as required to support the Events team
Qualifications And Competencies
Below are qualifications and competencies we believe the successful candidate will need for this role:
- College and/or university degree in Event Management, Fundraising Management or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a non-profit environment is considered an asset
- Advanced event planning abilities including event project management, seeing innovative event concepts to fruition and challenging the status quo engage new audiences
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple competing deadlines while maintaining the integrity of all projects
- Ability to openly embrace change and seek out opportunities for continuous improvement
- Participate as an active member of the team by embodying the values of the Foundation and applying them to all aspects of work
- Act as a Foundation brand ambassador amongst internal and external stakeholders, including donors/volunteers, by maintaining a positive, collaborative, flexible and professional image
- Demonstrated ability to work, both collaboratively and take initiative on individual work with minimal supervision
- Highly detail-oriented with an ability to proactively mitigate risk and maximize potential
- Proven project management experience
- Volunteer management experience, including working with and leading volunteer committees
- Understanding of Raiser’s Edge is an asset
- Flexibility to overtime hours, including but not limited to work weekends and evenings when necessary
Total Rewards Package
The hiring range for this position is $70,000 – 80,000. The salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s years of experience, qualifications and competencies that are relevant to this position.
In addition to salary, our competitive compensation package also includes, comprehensive health and dental benefits, HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan), hybrid work environment with a minimum of two (2) days in office, 2 float days each fiscal year and additional Sunny Days (long weekend closures in advance of summer long weekends and Christmas Eve).
