We're looking for an enthusiastic Operations Supervisor to take on a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of operations, from overseeing our dock workers to managing critical customer delivery times. What You'll Be Doing:
- Oversee daily operations, managing dock workers, lead hands, office staff, and drivers
- Organize tasks, ensuring smooth dock operations and on-time deliveries
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues, and collaborate with the Sales team
- Manage manpower schedules, overtime, and hiring of additional cartage
- Provide training to drivers and dock workers on safety procedures and best practices
- Address disciplinary matters when needed working to change behaviour in a positive manner
- Assist with vendor and contractor relations
- Respond to union member concerns and feedback
- Participate in health & safety initiatives, including safety training and completing reports
- Onboard new union employees
- Take on ad-hoc projects and assist with office staff training as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience supervising operations and a team ensuring smooth day-to-day functions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise and motivate a diverse team
- Ability to effectively handle customer complaints, operational challenges, and time-sensitive situations
- Understanding and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for all team members
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, customers, and management
- Able to collaborate effectively across departments and teams to achieve common goals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous knowledge of trucking industry and AS400 is preferred
