SALARY: $117,813 - $157,718 per annum

DUTIES
The Director of the Office of Applied Research Services (OARS) at RRC Polytech oversees all research administration and operations under the Research, Partnerships, and Innovation (RPI) division. This includes managing pre-award grants, post-award accounting, compliance, research security, and data management. The Director ensures support for applied research, large-scale funding, and regulatory compliance, while leading the OARS office to enhance research partnerships and funding sustainability.
Collaborating with the Executive Director, RPI, the Director improves business models, advises on sustainability, and tracks research metrics. They also oversee large cross-institutional programs and negotiate major grants and partnerships. The role manages a team of Program Managers, Operations Managers, and an Industry Liaison Manager.
This position is crucial for securing funding and acting as the primary liaison with research stakeholders, aligning OARS with RRC Polytech's strategic goals and maximizing research opportunities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctoral degree or equivalent graduate education in Business Administration, Science or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience in research management, particularly in pre- and post-award administration, including grant preparation, negotiation, and post-award financial management.
- Proven experience negotiating and developing large research grants, multi-party partnerships, and industry collaborations.
- Experience in managing large, cross-institutional programs and teams, with a strong understanding of how to oversee complex, multi-year funding arrangements.
- Significant experience in research operations and administration, including leadership roles in academic or research-intensive organizations.
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing diverse teams, budgets, and large-scale research initiatives.
- Strong leadership and staff management experience, with the ability to mentor and guide teams.
- Expertise in research compliance, data security, and research ethics.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a strong ability to work with diverse stakeholders and external partners.
- Must have the ability to act and represent the College in a professional, collegial, collaborative and entrepreneurial manner
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
