Audio Visual Technician (Term Full-Time)

SALARY: $46,862 - $65,993 per annum
POSITION LOCATION: Notre Dame Campus (Winnipeg, MB)

DUTIES
Audio Visual Services in RRC Polytech’s Centre for Learning and Program Excellence is looking to hire an experienced Audio Visual Technician for a six (6) month term with the possibility of extension. This AV Tech will support the operations of RRC Polytech’s Interdisciplinary Health and Community Services Simulation Centre (SIM Centre) in collaboration with the rest of the AV Services team.
The successful candidate will join a team of AV Technicians that support AV technology at RRC campuses across Manitoba. The AV Services team is responsible for repairs, maintenance, programming, troubleshooting and installation of AV equipment. AV Technicians work to ensure the proper operation of AV equipment to enable learning and collaboration, and to minimize the interruption of learning activities and College business. This specific role will support the SIM Centre’s technology suite, including IP cameras, microphones, displays, patient and mannequin vitals capture equipment, AV over IP control, routing and recording hardware and software in simulation labs, control rooms and debrief spaces. Technologies employed by the SIM Centre include Crestron, Biamp, EMS, and Laerdal hardware and software. The SIM Centre AV Tech will be responsible for repairs, maintenance, programming, troubleshooting and software updates of SIM Centre AV equipment and will collaborate with IT Solutions on computer and networking support.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One year College certificate in a field related to media technology, electrical systems, or IT/Networking. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Several years’ experience working in the Audio-Visual industry installing, maintaining, and supporting AV equipment
- Manitoba Class M Voice, Data, Video cable installer limited electrician's license
- Several years’ experience running, terminating, and testing communications cable in line with industry standards
- Clear understanding of networking fundamentals, including common network protocols
- Experience using PC based diagnostic and configuration tools to troubleshoot AV issues
- Experience working with AV vendors to diagnose, support, and fix problems
- Strong customer service skills, including the ability to build relationships with stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to provide AV specific training for end users with varying technical ability
- Ability to take initiative, work efficiently, and prioritize tasks while exercising reasonable judgment in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with supporting, configuring and programming RRC AV Services supported technologies, including Crestron, Extron, QSC, EMS, and Laerdal equipment
- Crestron Digital Media and NVX training
- Avixa certification (any of CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D)
- Experience working in an academic or healthcare environment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
- Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license
- This position may be required to work overtime
- Must be able to lift objects up to 50lbs
