Project Manager, Transportation Infrastructure Programming and StudiesPublic Works - TransportationContract Full-Time; 13 MonthsPay Band: $103,177 to $128,969 per annum
Work Mode: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.

Responsible for planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining regional roads, the team focuses on improving traffic flow, road safety, and sustainable transportation options. We also manage traffic signals, road maintenance, and active transportation initiatives, supporting Peel’s commitment to a connected and accessible community. Through innovation and collaboration, the Transportation team helps shape the future of mobility in the region.
The role:
In this dynamic role, you will represent regional interests in provincial and local agency transportation projects while managing environmental assessments, feasibility studies, and various transportation projects. This position allows you to collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups, utilizing your strong interpersonal skills to build consensus and drive projects forward. As a key member of our transportation team, you'll have the chance to make a meaningful impact on the region's road network development, ensuring that growth and infrastructure improvements align with community needs and environmental requirements.
What you’ll do:
- Manage environmental assessments (Schedule A+, B and C), corridor studies and feasibility studies to support Peel's road network expansion and improvement.
- Lead growth-related and state of good repair regional capital infrastructure projects planning within the transportation division.
- Ensure environmental compliance to secure necessary permits and approvals for future capital project phases.
- Manage and coordinate capital budget development for assigned projects and prepare business cases.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to the public, council, and stakeholders in various forums including council and public meetings.
- Participate in public engagement activities and develop related presentation materials.
- Support the execution of agreements with local municipalities and government agencies such as Conservation Authorities, MTO, and Metrolinx.
- Lead consultation and coordination efforts for regional interests on projects managed by other agencies that impact Peel's road network or infrastructure.
- Review and provide feedback on land development applications to ensure compliance with ongoing studies.
- Contribute comments on draft plans of subdivisions, district plans, and servicing plans/reports.
- Investigate and resolve public and council member complaints/concerns in a timely manner.
- Liaise with diverse stakeholders including the general public, developers, lawyers, real estate professionals, consulting engineers, contractors, and municipal staff.
What we require:
- Degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Environmental Studies, Civil Engineering, Certified Engineering Technologist diploma or related field.
- Registered Professional Planner, Professional Engineer or CET preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in planning road improvement projects or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of the municipal class environmental assessment process for road projects, transit project assessment process (TPAP), design standards, related codes, regulations, safety acts.
- Strong negotiating, planning, scheduling and project management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential, political issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and public relation skills.
- Demonstrated financial skills to make cost estimates to control budgets and expenditures.
