About The Position
This is a regular part-time (RPT) support staff Bargaining Unit position working 24 hours per week at an hourly rate of $28.60
Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Enrolment Services & Student Support Systems, the Customer Service Specialist is responsible for providing seamless service to students. Coordinating the resolution of student inquiries and issues presented through various virtual and in-person inbound channels, they will elevate issues or inquiries to the next level of service when required. They will be responsible for transactional inquiries related to related to Admissions, Registration, Records, Transfer Credits, Student Financial Aid programs, and Convocation, while referring more complex cases to the appropriate team member. They will also provide back-up support to teammates during peak periods.
The incumbent sets the knowledgeable and caring tone through which all clients are served; ensuring that the departmental customer service standards are met in each case.
Specific Accountabilities
- Front line team member responsible for receiving each customer inquiry through various virtual and in-person inbound channels and asking probing questions to determine the client’s exact needs
- Responsible for coordinating service delivery within departmental service standards
- Required to advise customers on a very wide variety of topics so must be very knowledgeable of all services, functions, policies, etc. of the College and in particular, the Office of the Registrar and Financial Aid Services
- Refers issues beyond the incumbent’s scope to the next level of service for action and response
- Allocates tasks to work study and EBAT students and follows up to ensure completion of those tasks
- Responds to third party enrolment and education verification inquiries
- Proven customer friendly communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use tact, diplomacy and judgement
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Well organized with the ability to prioritize tasks as appropriate
- Works well in a team environment
- Conflict resolution skills
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2 Year diploma or equivalent in Business Administration, Human Services or Office Administration
- 3 years experience in a student services environment
- Experience/understanding of financial aid considered an asset
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite and student information databases
