Position Summary
The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing day-to-day site operations for residential construction projects, including both multi-family developments and single-family homes. This role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards while coordinating trades, maintaining schedules, and assisting with inspections and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all phases of construction from site preparation to final walkthroughs
- Support scheduling of subcontractors, deliveries, and inspections to maintain project timelines
- Review plans and specifications to ensure work aligns with design and code requirements
- Monitor job site safety and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations
- Conduct daily site walkthroughs to assess progress, quality, and resolve issues proactively
- Maintain accurate documentation including daily logs, inspection reports, and punch lists
- Coordinate with trades and suppliers across multiple units or homes to ensure smooth workflow
- Communicate effectively with site teams, project managers, and clients as needed
- Assist with quality control checks and ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly
- Support turnover and occupancy processes for completed units or homes
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in residential construction, preferably in both multi-family and single-family projects
- Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and safety practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office
- WHMIS, First Aid, and Fall Protection certifications preferred
