Position Summary / Goals
The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling all production runs across machine centers to ensure timely and efficient workflow across all departments. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production efficiency, managing lead times, and supporting smooth communication between Customer Service, Sales, Shipping and our board vendors.
Essential Functions and Job Skills
- Set up and control order line-ups on all major and secondary presses.
- Manage lead times and ensure balance across all major presses.
- Organize large order shipments in collaboration with Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) and the Shipping department.
- Follow up on all committed orders to ensure timely completion and delivery.
- Schedule and manage “run-withs” and “run-togethers.”
- Respond promptly to rush order requests and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Maintain consistent and even lead times across both plant locations.
- Coordinate movement of order specifications throughout the plant.
- Act as liaison for scheduling-related communications.
- Manage incoming materials in coordination with Shipping.
- Administer internal and supplier NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and follow up on progress with CSRs and Sales Representatives.
- Follow up with Tencorr regarding re-run material and receipt.
- Schedule re-runs and ensure accuracy of docket routing changes.
- Control transfer processes and related documentation between plant locations.
- Conduct monthly die purges and maintain accurate records.
Required Education and Knowledge
- Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
- Proficiency in the English language (verbal and written).
- High degree of computer literacy with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, time management, and multitasking.
- Knowledge of corrugated manufacturing machinery and processes is an asset.
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based role with regular visits to the production floor.
- Frequent standing, crouching, bending, and kneeling.
- Exposure to fluctuating temperatures (up to 35°C seasonally).
- Noise levels may exceed 85 dB; hearing protection required.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- CSA-approved safety footwear.
- Hearing protection when on the production floor.
