In-House Legal Counsel – Real Estate & Leasing (Part-Time)
Location: Concord, Ontario
Schedule: Part-Time — 3 Days per Week (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Compensation: $130,000–$140,000 (pro-rated)

Position Overview
The organization is looking for an experienced In-House Legal Counsel to support its real estate, commercial leasing, and property management activities. This is a part-time role (three days per week) ideal for a legal professional seeking meaningful, ongoing work with a predictable schedule and strong work-life balance.
You will oversee day-to-day legal matters related to leasing, tenant relations, property operations, construction issues, and coordination with external counsel on litigation or claims. The role requires comfort working independently in a small office environment and handling a broad range of commercial real estate matters.
Key Responsibilities
Leasing & Property Management
- Review, interpret, and revise commercial leases, amendments, renewals, and related agreements.
- Support leasing staff with tenant onboarding and lease compliance issues.
- Advise on landlord-tenant matters and enforcement issues.
Litigation & Claims Coordination
- Coordinate matters involving construction disputes, insurance claims, and property damage.
- Act as the internal liaison with external legal counsel.
- Track claim progress and provide recommendations on risk mitigation.
Real Estate & Corporate Legal Support
- Assist with due diligence and matters related to acquisitions, zoning, and land use.
- Provide guidance on general corporate and operational matters arising in a property management environment.
- Draft and review various legal documents to support ongoing operations.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with senior leadership, leasing teams, and property management staff.
- Provide practical, solutions-focused advice and proactively address issues before escalation.
- Maintain organized legal records and communicate updates to management.
Qualifications
- LL.B. or J.D., and member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- 15+ years of legal experience, ideally in real estate, commercial leasing, or property management.
- In-house experience an asset, but candidates from private practice with relevant expertise are encouraged to apply.
- Strong ability to work independently and manage varied legal responsibilities.
- Excellent communication, judgment, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working on-site in a close-knit, team-based office environment.
