Commercial Mortgage Analyst Our client is seeking a highly analytical and driven Commercial Mortgage Analyst to support underwriting, financial modelling, and market research across a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate transactions. Your success will be defined by your ability to: - Partner with mortgage professionals to evaluate and structure commercial mortgage opportunities
- Analyze financial statements, rent rolls, market data, and third‑party reports to assess deal quality
- Build detailed cash flow models, proformas, and underwriting packages
- Gather, interpret, and distribute relevant market intelligence, including brokerage, CMHC, and cost consultant reports
- Maintain internal databases related to lease rates, construction costs, vacancy trends, and market comparables
- Review and summarize engineering, appraisal, and environmental reports for underwriting files
- Organize documentation, track active transactions, and ensure data accuracy across all deal files
- Assist origination teams in aligning opportunities with lender guidelines and investment criteria
- Prepare polished investment summaries, underwriting memos, and mortgage commitment documents
- Support closing and funding processes by coordinating required documentation and ensuring compliance
- Develop strong professional relationships with external partners such as appraisers, engineers, and consultants
Your strengths include: - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related field; MBA considered an asset
- 3+ years of experience in commercial real estate, mortgage underwriting, or financial analysis
- Strong financial modelling capabilities, including IRR, NPV, cash flow projections, and sensitivity analysis
- Willingness to obtain provincial mortgage licensing within six months (if not already licensed)
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and data visualization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing high‑quality presentation materials
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment with multiple competing priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in underwriting and documentation
- Familiarity with commercial real estate markets and transaction structures
- Experience with Adobe InDesign is an asset but not required
- A mindset focused on driving value, continuous improvement, and contributing to a rapidly expanding organization
