The Test Engineering Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining system verification and validation plans of the Telesat LEO constellation communication system. In addition, they will participate in the various testing activities across the Telesat Leo system with vendors and other partners and responsible for maintaining the lab.
Main Responsibilities
- In this role, the incumbent will issue recommendations and have influence on the system verification and validation of the Telesat LEO system
- Work with various Vendors to support the Test Requirements, Test Plans, Test Results and RVTM reviews
- Work with the other segments to support the development of the internal Test Plans and verification methods.
- Support Over The Air (OTA) Test Planning and activities including the Test automation processes.
- Support System Acceptance Planning activities for the LEOP and IOT.
- Develop system and sub system verification matrices against system requirements
- Plays an active role in system design and test activities
- Configuring test equipment like Satellite Link Emulators, signal generator, spectrum analyzer etc.
- Ensure product under test meets technical, functional, performance and business requirements
- Keep the lab functional and update to date with known hardware and software configuration to execute various test scenarios as necessary
- Work with partners and other vendors in various test campaigns
Education & Experience Required
• Develop and maintain system and sub system verification matrices for operational, autonomy, resilience, and availability requirements (NOC/SOC autonomy, redundancy, failover, graceful degradation).
• Lead system level operational test planning, execution, and reporting, including:
o Primary/secondary NOC, SOC, and CSOC failover
o Autonomy periods during GNSS outages and loss of control segments
o Progressive deployment and service continuity scenarios
• Serve as System Operations SME, supporting NMS, EMS, OSS/BSS and satellite operations teams.
• Define and execute LEOP, IOT, commissioning, and service activation test scenarios from a system perspective.
• Develop and maintain operational testbeds simulating outages, degraded modes, and recovery workflows.
• Perform hands on testing in the LEO Lab for operational workflows, monitoring, alarms, and recovery.
• Validate FCAPS, telemetry, logging, anomaly detection, and root cause investigation capabilities.
• Support System Acceptance Planning for LEOP and IOT phases.
B.Sc. in Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering
8+ years of experience in satellite communications or large scale telecom systems
Preferred Qualifications
- • Experience with automation of operational workflows (Python, scripting).
• Familiarity with hybrid/private cloud architectures used in satellite operations.
• Experience supporting LEOP and IOT acceptance activities.
• Strong cross team communication and leadership skills.
