Job Information And Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Academic Director, the
Managing Director will:
- Lead implementation of the Centre's strategic plan with the Academic Director, with particular focus on sport education, women in sport business, and athlete wellbeing.
- Oversee the Centre's core operations, including programming, governance, financial management, and program evaluation.
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships across the university and with external partners, including community, industry, government, and scholarly stakeholders.
- Strengthen the Centre's institutional profile, reach, and long-term sustainability on and off campus.
- Advance projects that support research dissemination, student and athlete support, community outreach, and experiential learning in the sport sector.
- Support the development of university-wide initiatives in athlete wellbeing, sport governance, and, where appropriate, curriculum development in sport studies.
Experience And Education Requirements
To be the successful Managing Director you will have:
- A relevant research-based Masters degree with a focus on sport is preferable.
- Demonstrated knowledge development through continuous education and certification
- Minimum of five years of management or leadership experience
- Evidence of an existing network in the sport industry and an understanding of industry trends
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team and develop talent across an organization
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with different individuals, groups, and audiences
- Responsible decision-maker with above-average interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organization and time management skills with a proven commitment to quality assurance and accuracy
- Active listener and consensus-builder with an ability to manage and respond to multiple and varied stakeholders and audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Previous experience with business administration and community outreach are all considered assets
- Previous experience working in a post-secondary setting is an asset
