Director, Marketing & Communications
Job Summary
The Director, Marketing & Communications, provides strategic leadership for all marketing, brand, content, and communications functions across both the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) and the Paralympic Foundation of Canada (PFC).
The Director leads a dynamic team, provides clear direction, builds capability, and fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence. Success in the role requires sharp prioritization of high-impact opportunities, a strong results orientation, and the ability to allocate resources where they will generate the greatest return.
Reporting to the Chief Commercial & Impact Officer, the Director leads the development and execution of CPC and PFC marketing and communications strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and revenue objectives. This role is accountable for translating strategy into measurable outcomes, setting clear targets, and driving excellent execution across campaigns, partnerships, and fundraising initiatives.

Location: Remote within Canada, with travel to Ottawa (CPC Office) and other locations
Full-time
Salary: $90,000-$117,000 annually plus benefits
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
· Develop and lead the execution of CPC’s integrated marketing and communications strategy, translating the 10-year strategic plan into prioritized annual plans that reflect team capacity.
· Develop and lead the PFC marketing and communications strategy as a distinct, but aligned and complementary workstream, ensuring fundraising campaigns, donor engagement, and impact storytelling are strategically planned and resourced.
· Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy and cross-functional collaboration anddecision-making.
· Advise the CEO and Executive leadership on communications strategy, positioning, and reputational matters.
· Lead annual planning, budgeting, and reporting for the marketing and communications functions.
Impact
· Develop a clear and compelling articulation of CPC and PFC’s impact that establishes consistent positioning and strengthens our case for support across both commercial and philanthropic audiences
· Develop and lead the communications approach to support CPC / PFC Government relations and external relations strategy.
· Oversee impact and advocacy communications in collaboration with the Impact team.
Brand and Marketing
· With the CCIO, work collaboratively with the Canadian broadcast partner to ensure accurate and effective positioning Games over Games.
· In alignment with CPC and PFC strategies, identify the most effective methods of brand activation that enable the strongest return on investment.
· Oversee digital content strategy, social media growth, and community engagement, with a focus on athlete-centered storytelling.
· Identify and develop working relationships with media partners, including but not limited to social and digital media platforms, to ensure innovative activation.
· Oversee brand protection for the CPC, and ensure robust methodology and processes are in place for strong and accurate representation by CPC partners, with structures established to mitigate ambush marketing.
Communications & Media
· Provide leadership and strategic oversight of media relations, external communications, and reactive, crisis communications
· Lead the organization’s inclusive communications and accessibility program across all platforms.
· Manage senior stakeholder communications relationships, including broadcast partners, member organizations, sport partners, government partners, corporate partners, and donors.
Games Operations
· Guide the development of Games-time marketing, brand and communications strategies for all Paralympic, Parapan American, and Youth Parapan American Games, ensuring alignment with broader functions and organizational objectives.
· Develop the operational plans and resourcing model required to deliver Games-time activities, including the integration of external partners and support.
· Lead post-Games debriefing, impact reporting, and knowledge capture for future cycles.
Team Leadership & Operations
· Lead, mentor, and develop the Marketing & Communications team.
· Establish clear team workflows, supporting the development and adherence to capacity management practices, and escalation protocols.
· Oversee and support external agency and freelancer relationships.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
· Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related fields. An advanced degree or professional designation is an asset.
Experience
· 10-15 years' experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing cross-functional teams.
· Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies for complex organizations with multiple stakeholder groups.
· Experience with fundraising, donor marketing, and philanthropic communications.
· Experience leading a strategic marketing function that serves multiple internal clients and revenue streams simultaneously (e.g., corporate partnerships, fundraising/development, sport, and corporate communications)
· Experience in sport, not-for-profit, or mission-driven organizations is preferred.
· Experience with Games-time or major event marketing and communications operations is an asset.
· Experience with brand campaign development and broadcast partnerships is an asset. Experience managing brand compliance programs and intellectual property protection is an asset.
Knowledge & Skills
· Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate a broad organizational vision into focused, achievable marketing and communications plans.
· Proven ability to manage competing priorities, set boundaries, and make trade-off decisions in resource-constrained environments.
· Understanding of brand strategy, digital marketing, media relations, content marketing, and fundraising marketing.
· Strong business acumen with the ability to connect marketing activities to revenue and organizational impact outcomes.
· Experience in delivering and executing in English and French.
· Understanding of inclusive communications practices, disability-inclusive language, and person-first storytelling.
· Proficiency with modern marketing tools, analytics platforms, and project management systems.
· Knowledge of Canada’s sport system, the Paralympic Movement, and/or disability inclusion is an asset.

Working Conditions
· Role is remote (primarily working from Canada) with extensive travel both domestically and internationally
· Will be required to work evenings and weekends during busy periods, including Games and other special events
