Are you passionate about making a difference in the community? If so, we have an exciting opportunity within our Community Safety team for a Crime Prevention Programs Facilitator. This role is responsible for coordinating, delivering and promoting community crime prevention programs in support of the Community Safety Plan at the City of Burnaby. You’ll be out in the community conducting security assessments of properties, preparing detailed reports, and providing information in the form of meetings and/or workshops to residents. You’ll also collaborate with RCMP members, City staff, and a wide range of community groups — all while helping advance Burnaby’s Community Safety Plan. Performs related work as required.
Our ideal candidate will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by some post-secondary training in criminology and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, plus considerable related experience, including some experience in promoting a community-based program, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The Facilitator will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts including community partners, police members and the public; ability to communicate effectively in written communications; conduct security assessments, draft detailed reports on findings and make related recommendations; prepare and maintain a variety of detailed reports, correspondence, promotional materials, and files related to the work; and coordinate, deliver and promote community crime prevention programs. Experience presenting informative workshops is required. Administrative, file management, and computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are required. A valid class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required. Please note that a Police Information Check may be required for this position.

Pay Rate:
$34.63 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2024 Rates)
$37.09 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2026 Rates)
Location: City Hall
Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work. Typical shifts may vary between the hours of 8:00 AM to 10:00PM, Monday to Sunday.
