Operations Manager

Position Summary:Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager oversees the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of all Nelson Hydro generation and substation facilities.
Provides technical leadership, ensuring effective use of staff and equipment, and oversees employee development including performance management, evaluations, training plans, and hiring.
Leads the Nelson Hydro Asset Management Program for generation and substations and provides technical support to internal departments while participating in long‑term planning to address aging infrastructure and climate change.
Success in this position will be indicated by a high level of generation and substation reliability, excellent safety record, cost-effective asset management and regulatory compliance.
This is a transitional role that will expand to include the duties of the Nelson Hydro Lines Manager within 2-3 years.
Essential Qualifications:- Diploma in Electrical Power Technology or a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, including Professional Designation or an acceptable equivalency as a journey person within an electrical trade.
- Class A Electrical Field Safety Representative certificate with Technical Safety BC or eligibility to obtain this certification is an asset.
- 10 years of recent related experience in a supervisory/management capacity.
- 8 years of experience within an electric utility.
- Experience in planning, design, operation and maintenance in a vertically integrated utility including transmission, distribution and hydroelectric power generation.
- Experience managing capital construction projects in the areas of generating stations and substations
COMPENSATION: $130,556 - $145,062
SCHEDULE: 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday
