We are currently seeking a experienced Blaster to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for handling explosives responsibly and contributing to the safe and efficient progress of construction projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in all blast site activities under the supervision of a licensed Blaster-in-Charge
- Perform duties such as measuring holes, loading and stemming holes, connecting initiation systems, site cleanup, and inventory checks
- Support the secure setup and closure of blast sites to ensure safety and compliance
- Assist with blast design and drill pattern layouts using GPS, drones, profilers, and bore tracking tools
- Conduct site hazard assessments to maintain safe working conditions
- Inspect and maintain equipment used in blasting operations, including vehicles for explosive product delivery
- Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial blasting and safety regulations (TDG, Explosives Act, OH&S, WHMIS)
- Maintain accurate inventory records of explosive and non-explosive products
- Follow and help enforce company policies, safe work practices, and standard operating procedures
Job Requirements
Language: English (spoken and written fluency required)
Education: Diploma or apprentice training of 6 months to 2 years
Experience:
- Previous experience in construction, mining, or related industries is an asset
- Ability to operate site surveying and blasting layout tools
- Familiarity with GPS and digital tools for site layout and logging is considered an asset
- Safety certifications (WHMIS, TDG, etc.) are an asset
- Basic computer skills (for logging blasts, accessing digital training, and reports)
- Comfortable working in outdoor environments and under physically demanding conditions
- Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety
- Professional, positive, and courteous attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
