Electrical Controls Panel Shop Supervisor Location: Hamilton, Ontario Company: JTK Integrated Controls Inc. Position Overview JTK Integrated Controls is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Panel Shop Supervisor to lead our panel fabrication team. This role is intended for a senior control panel builder or electrical technician with extensive hands-on experience in industrial control panel assembly, wiring standards, and supervision of technical shop personnel. The successful candidate will supervise panel fabrication activities while maintaining direct involvement in layout, wiring, testing, and quality verification of industrial control systems used in PLC-based automation environments. This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must have demonstrated experience building industrial control panels from engineering drawings and supervising panel shop production. - Key Responsibilities Supervise daily operations of the controls panel fabrication shop Lead a team of panel builders and electrical technicians Interpret and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings Plan and coordinate panel builds according to project schedules Oversee panel layout, device mounting, wire routing, labeling, and termination Ensure compliance with CSA, UL508A, and applicable electrical standards Perform and verify point-to-point wiring checks and continuity testing Conduct power-up testing and functional verification prior to shipment Coordinate with engineering regarding drawing revisions and build issues Maintain quality standards for panel wiring, documentation, and labeling Manage shop inventory for electrical components and wiring materials Train and mentor junior panel builders and apprentices Ensure safe work practices and maintain an organized shop environment - Required Technical Qualifications Applicants must demonstrate strong technical experience in control panel construction, including: Minimum 7+ years experience building industrial control panels Proven experience supervising panel builders or leading shop builds Strong understanding of PLC control systems and industrial automation Ability to read and interpret: Electrical schematics I/O wiring diagrams Panel layout drawings Terminal schedules Experience wiring: PLC I/O modules VFDs and motor starters Control relays Power distribution components Safety circuits Familiarity with: UL508A / CSA panel construction standards Proper wire sizing and routing practices Ferrules, wire markers, and industrial labeling systems Industrial enclosure layout and thermal considerations Experience performing panel QA checks and pre-power inspections Strong troubleshooting ability for wiring or schematic discrepancies - Preferred Qualifications Industrial Electrician (442A or 309A) or Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist Experience with PLC platforms such as Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) Siemens Schneider Electric Experience supervising fabrication schedules for multiple control panels Experience coordinating with automation engineers and project managers - What We Offer Competitive compensation based on experience Stable, long-term employment in industrial automation Opportunity to work with experienced engineers and technicians Professional work environment focused on quality control systems JTK builds control systems that our customers are pleased with, and our employees are proud of. - How to Apply Qualified candidates with proven control panel build experience are encouraged to submit a resume outlining relevant shop and supervisory experience.
