This role exists to support continued production demand across multiple industries including automotive, defense, oil & gas, mining, and commercial manufacturing.
At Fostet Manufacturing, this position is critical to producing precision-machined components - including medium to large parts - with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, and on-time delivery.
The Work You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Set up and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision components
- Select tooling, workholding, and machine parameters for optimal performance
- Load, run, and edit CNC programs at the machine as needed
- Establish offsets and verify setups prior to production
- Perform first-article and in-process inspections
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality
- Troubleshoot tooling, machine, or process issues
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
- Maintain accurate setup sheets, production logs, and quality records
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve efficiency
Machines, Controls & Software
You'll work with equipment such as:
Machines:
- Mazak Quick Turn Nexus 450-II M (large-capacity turning, live tooling)
- Hyundai WIA and Fortune CNC lathes
- Large-swing machines capable of long components
Controls:
- Mazatrol / Fanuc-type interfaces
CAM Software:
- Mastercam (offline programming support)
Inspection Tools:
- Micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and precision measuring tools
Materials You'll Work With
- Aluminum
- Mild and alloy steels
- Stainless steel
- Industrial metals used in heavy-duty applications
What We're Looking ForRequired
- 5+ years of CNC lathe experience in a production environment
- Strong setup skills (tooling, workholding, offsets)
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools
- Experience holding tight tolerances
- Solid understanding of machining principles and tooling
- Ability to troubleshoot machining issues independently
- Strong attention to detail and quality mindset
- Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented
Preferred (Not Required)
- Familiarity with Mazak, Fanuc, Haas, or similar controls
- Experience editing G-code at the machine
- Experience with prototype through high-volume production
- Experience machining larger components or long parts
- Live tooling or mill-turn exposure
