This role plays a critical part in producing large, complex custom components where precision, reliability, and craftsmanship matter. You'll be working on real industrial hardware - not small commodity parts - in a well-equipped shop known for quality and safety.
Ellery Manufacturing has over 47 years of experience delivering precision machining and fabrication services and operates a modern 20,000 sq ft production facility in Surrey, BC.
The Work You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Independently set up and operate CNC machines
- Machine medium-to-large custom industrial steel components
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Select tooling, set offsets, and verify workholding
- Perform first-article and in-process inspections
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain quality
- Use overhead cranes and forklifts to safely move materials and parts
- Maintain machines and tooling in good working condition
- Collaborate with team members to solve production challenges
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Machines, Controls & Equipment
You may work with equipment such as:
- Vertical turning centers (large-diameter work)
- Horizontal boring mills
- CNC mills and lathes
- Overhead cranes (up to 10-ton capacity)
- Forklifts
Controls and software may include Fanuc and Haas systems.
Materials You'll Work With
- Carbon and alloy steel
- Stainless steel
- Medium-to-large industrial components
What We're Looking ForRequired
- 5+ years of professional CNC machining experience
- Strong setup and operation skills
- Experience machining custom steel parts
- Comfortable handling medium to large components
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Skilled with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators
- Safe operation of overhead cranes
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently
- Proficient English communication (verbal and written)
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with vertical turning or horizontal boring mills
- Forklift experience
- Red Seal / Journeyman certification
