Are you passionate about promoting wellness, balance, and mindful movement in your community? The City of Burnaby is seeking auxiliary Tai Chi/Qi Gong Instructors to join our Parks, Recreation and Culture team. This instructional role involves planning and leading Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes for a diverse range of participants, including older adults and individuals undergoing rehabilitation. Instructors develop and deliver safe, inclusive, and engaging programs that support participants’ physical and mental well-being, while adapting instruction to suit varying abilities and experience levels. Performs other related work as required.
The ideal candidates will have certification and/or formal training in Tai Chi and/or Qi Gong instruction from a recognized provider, along with current Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED certification. Experience working with a variety of populations is considered an asset, along with the ability to create a supportive and welcoming learning environment. Pay Rate:$32.64 per hour (2024 Rates)
$33.62 per hour (2026 Rates)
Location: Bonsor Recreation Centre, Cameron Recreation Complex, Confederation Community Centre, Edmonds Community Centre, Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre.
Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position; hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work, which may include on-call shifts. Schedules are based on employee availability and operational needs, and may be scheduled on any day of the week in accordance with Recreation Centre operating hours. Shifts are typically 2 hours in duration.
