
Assistant Program Coordinator – Gleneagles Community Centre

The West Vancouver Community Services Department has an immediate opening for a replacement temporary part-time Assistant Program Coordinator. This is an onsite position located at the Gleneagles Community Centre. This position will work approximately 30 hours for the month of May and will increase to 37.5 hours in June, July and August to support summer camp programs.
Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, this position will assist in:
- The planning, promotion, implementation and evaluation of recreation programs and services at the community centre and in the community for all ages in a team-oriented atmosphere;
- Participates with Community Services Department teams on a variety of topical initiatives;
- The planning, promotion, implementation and evaluation of community special events;
- Provides leadership, training and supervision for instructors and program leaders;
- Monitors special areas as required to ensure that safe practices and rules are followed;
- Liaises with community groups and service providers;
- Instruction in specialized programs may be required;
- Perform other related duties as required;
- Performs other related work as required.
The preferred candidate will possess:
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, supplies, equipment and facilities required for various community recreation activities;
- Working knowledge of programs including ActiveNet, MS Office Suite, preferrably ePACT;
- Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of staff and volunteers;
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and the public;
- Knowledge of leadership and techniques of instruction;
- Excellent customer service delivery and problem-solving ability;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The successful candidate has completed post secondary education in Recreation, Leadership, Social Sciences, or Kinesiology, supplemented by some experience in recreation work, or an equivalent combination of education or experience. A Class 5 driver’s licence valid in the Province of British Columbia is required.
The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

$34.07 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits (2025 rates)
