Scope
The Field Surveyor 1 performs basic surveying work in both field and office settings and assists in the collection, processing, and documentation of survey data for municipal projects. The role may supervise or provide direction to junior staff and supports the delivery of accurate survey information for design and construction activities.

Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys independently or with an assistant to support City infrastructure projects.
- Complete surveys during the pre-construction, construction, and as-constructed phases of City projects with direction.
- Carry out surveys to lay out features and boundaries for the construction of roads, sewer, water, street lighting, and other municipal infrastructure.
- Perform basic survey calculations and maintain detailed field notes related to surveys conducted.
- Provide information and explanations to the public, City staff, and external consultants in consultation with a supervisor.
- Complete office-related tasks including preparing CAD deliverables, sketches, cross sections, and markups.
- Assist other survey team members in performing their duties.
- Drive a City vehicle to and from job sites as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by the successful completion of five relevant courses from a recognized technical institute and a minimum of three years relevant experience in related survey work. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Valid BC Driver's License with a safe driving history.
