We are seeking a
Director, Organizational Capacity & Operations to act as a core member of the DWF leadership team. Working alongside the President & CEO and in collaboration with the leadership team, you will help shape and execute our long-term objectives, balancing high-level strategic planning with the daily operational oversight required to advance our shared journey toward reconciliation.
This position is responsible for the overall health of the organization, managing the intersection of people, organizational culture, and operational efficiency to support DWF's mission. The Director, Organizational Capacity & Operations reports directly to the President & CEO.

Your Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Executive Strategy & Advisory
- Act as a key advisor to the President & CEO, translating organizational vision into actionable HR policies, culture-building initiatives, and long-term operational plans.
- Facilitate Board and stakeholder relations, managing high-level communications, board reporting, and acting as a vital liaison between leadership and program teams.
People & Culture Leadership
- Modernize the employee lifecycle, overseeing recruitment, compensation, and performance management while fostering an inclusive, people-centred organizational culture.
- Direct HR compliance and excellence by integrating diverse perspectives and equitable frameworks into all internal policies, while implementing conflict resolution and professional development programs that foster a safe, inclusive, and accountable workplace culture.
Operational Oversight & Governance
- Lead daily operations and team management, streamlining internal workflows and managing the organization’s operational workplan to ensure peak efficiency.
- Champion fiscal and data stewardship, overseeing the annual budget in alignment with Canadian charitable standards and maintaining rigorous digital record-keeping (PIPEDA/CRA compliance).
- Manage essential infrastructure, coordinating with vendors for IT, finance, and HR support, including end-to-end logistics for hardware and remote-office provisioning.
Preferred Qualifications

- Post-secondary degree (or higher) with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in leading human resources, operations, finance, or administration teams.
- Sound understanding of employment standards and regulatory requirements such as the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Income Tax Act, and AODA/Accessibility requirements.
- Proficiency in fiscal management, people management, policy development and strategic planning.
- Demonstrated experience scaling an organization, managing transitions, or improving organizational efficiency through documented process improvements.
- Ability to use data analytics to track metrics and define measurable objectives to inform executive planning and decision-making.
- Experience using MS Office, Sharepoint, Outlook, Salesforce, and general office equipment. Experience with finance software such as Xero is considered an asset.
- Experience engaging with Indigenous communities, knowledge of Indigenous cultures and traditions
- The ability and willingness to travel within Canada is required.
- Current Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening are required.
