Where and how we work:
We are open to candidates based in the Greater Toronto area with the right to work in Canada. This is a hybrid role requiring 1 day in the office (Tuesdays), located at 100 University Avenue, while the remainder of time can be spent working from home.
Hours of Work: This is a global position where you'll collaborate with leaders and colleagues across Eastern, MST, CST & Pacific time zones, as well as those in Sydney, Australia. While your primary working hours will align with your local timezone, you'll need to engage with other timezones as required. We offer a high degree of flexibility, allowing you to structure your workday to effectively accommodate these global interactions when necessary.
Role Summary:The Senior People Partner (AMER) is a strategic, hands-on business partner who works with senior leaders and people managers across North America to drive business outcomes through talent, organizational design, leadership effectiveness, employee experience, and strong employee relations practice.
This role provides senior advisory support across the employee lifecycle, balancing strategic partnership with pragmatic delivery. The Senior People Partner is a key contributor to our global People operating model, collaborating closely with Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits), Talent Acquisition, and People Operations to deliver consistent, scalable programmes while meeting local business needs and compliance requirements.
In this role, you’ll be based in Toronto and support NAMER leaders across the US and Canada, while collaborating regularly with the global People team in Australia.
Key responsibilities:Business PartneringPartner with business leaders and stakeholders, demonstrating strong business acumen and a bias for outcomes. Prioritize what matters most and convert People strategy into clear, practical actions that support business performance.
Strategic partnering and organizational effectiveness
Act as a trusted adviser to NAMER leadership by aligning people plans to business objectives and driving measurable value through workforce planning, talent decisions, and organizational effectiveness.
Support leaders with organizational planning (headcount, structure, critical roles, succession risk) and shape fit-for-purpose organizational structures, job families/roles, and operating rhythms that scale.
Leadership, Performance & ProgramsCoach senior leaders and people managers on high-quality people leadership practices including performance management, feedback, role clarity, accountability, and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
Drive consistent, high-impact delivery of cyclical talent programs (for example, performance and development cycles) in partnership with People Operations and the relevant People COEs.
Design, implement and support HR-related programs across teams, focused on areas such as benefits, reward and recognition, employee engagement, workplace, etc.
Employee relations, risk, and complianceLead NAMER employee relations matters by advising leaders and employees and ensuring processes are consistent, fair, well-documented, and jurisdiction-aware.
Oversee (and, where appropriate, lead) complex casework such as investigations, performance risk, grievances, and reorganizations, partnering closely with external counsel as required.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant US and Canadian employment legislation, regulations, and leading practice; translate requirements into scalable policies, leader guidance, and manager capability-building.
Change management and growthLead People workstreams for change initiatives impacting NAMER (for example, restructures, leader transitions, rapid hiring ramps, and operating model changes), ensuring change is well communicated, effectively implemented, and aligned to global principles while respecting local requirements.
People insights and global collaborationUse People data and business context to generate insights and recommendations that help leaders make better decisions on hiring, retention, performance, engagement, and organizational health.
Operates as part of a globally distributed People team across NAMER, AustPac and EMEA, sharing learning, contributing to global standards, and ensuring regional execution is consistent with company values and fit-for-purpose locally.
Experience and backgroundSignificant experience as a Senior People Partner / HR Business Partner, supporting multiple client groups in a fast-paced environment (high-growth tech/SaaS preferred).
Demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic partner to senior leaders, translating business needs into practical people strategies and interventions (workforce planning, organizational design, leader coaching, performance).
Proven change leadership capability in complex environments with competing priorities, ambiguity, and pace.
High attention to detail with a proactive problem-solving approach and strong follow-through.
Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
Data-informed decision-making capability and the ability to translate insights into tangible actions and leader commitments.
Deep experience leading employee relations matters with strong judgement, disciplined process, and a risk-aware approach.
Strong working knowledge of North America employment legislation and compliance practices, with an understanding of the practical differences across federal/state (US) and provincial/federal (Canada) contexts.
Comfort working within a global operating model while moving quickly and autonomously within region.
