As a Planner, you’ll play a key role in developing and optimizing production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing, balanced capacity, and consistent product availability across our operations. Your work will directly support Supply Chain, Production, Packaging, and Logistics teams while contributing to the broader Village Farms mission of leading a sustainable path forward for global cannabis.
What You'll Do
Production Planning:
- Develop and maintain a detailed production plan that aligns with the sales orders, make to stock needs, and order forecasts.
- Plan finished goods production for all retail flower, milled, pre-rolls, blunts, and vapes packaging
- Plan all work-in-process production for all milling, in-house pre-rolls, graded trim, kief, and blending
- Create and allocate biomass to all retail production orders
Production Scheduling & Capacity Optimization:
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for internal production and contract manufacturers.
- Plan room-by-room utilization to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.
- Define optimal run lengths based on product type, capacity constraints, and material availability.
- Monitor and adjust scheduling based demand changes and equipment availability.
- Track batch sizes, cycle times, and production throughput, optimizing workflows for efficiency.
- Ensure manufacturing schedules are executed efficiently, meeting order requirements.
Rework & Process Optimization:
- Plan room-by-room schedules for rework and flexible production runs.
- Optimize run lengths based on rework complexity, minimizing resource usage.
- Monitor rework batch sizes and processing times, ensuring minimal losses.
Inventory Planning & Control:
- Monitor all finished goods inventory levels to ensure we are always in stock and product is not aging out
- Align schedules with warehouse and logistics to reintroduce reworked stock into inventory.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Align schedules with packaging and logistics teams to ensure timely product availability.
- Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and operations teams to support smooth production flow.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in production scheduling, manufacturing planning, or supply chain coordination.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems, production workflows, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and data analysis tools for scheduling and reporting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills to quickly resolve scheduling conflicts and optimize production flow.
