About the Role
Our Bylaw Services Department is currently looking for a highly motivated, outgoing and animal savvy person who enjoys engaging with the public to promote responsible pet ownership as a Dog Licence Canvasser. In this role, you will be responsible for educating dog owning residents on dog licence requirements and following up. Duties include planning canvassing routes in the District’s neighbourhoods; visiting residences; educating and issuing dog licences if applicable; providing specified bylaw information to dog owners; and performing some record keeping.
The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service skills; along with the ability to deal courteously with the public including being able to provide information, respond to questions, and successfully defuse potentially challenging situations; and prepare and maintain a variety of reports and records. You will also have knowledge of the dog licence fee schedules and the related bylaw.
Qualifications
A valid class 5 driver’s licence is required, as well as the ability to walk long distances and under varying weather conditions. Preferably, you have access to a vehicle. An understanding of dog behaviour and a comfort level with dogs is an asset.
Details
Salary: The pay range for this unionized position is $25.22 to $29.48 per hour (2024 rates) plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
