GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services and assigned duties by the Human Resources Advisor, the Health & Safety Coordinator holds a central role in establishing and enhancing the organization’s health and safety standards. The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and implementing the Town’s Corporate Health and Safety Program while also partnering with each department on their individual safety plans.
Qualifications include:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Post secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably within a municipal or public sector environment.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
- WorkSafeBC First Aid Certification is preferred.
- Membership in Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
