The Digital Forensic Examiner is a unionized position providing specialized technical support to Investigators by following industry standard forensic practices, conducting forensic analysis of digital evidence and preparing comprehensive reports of all findings for successful court prosecution.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Appointed as Special Municipal Constable.
- Develops and maintains an approved CV and provides expert opinion evidence and testimony in court in coordination with Crown counsel.
- Inspects, investigates, and/or scrutinizes a variety of digital evidence sources including digital devices, data and files, metadata, networks and system artifacts to assess quality, accuracy, or compliance.
- Intakes, disassembles and processes physical and digital evidence.
- Maintains and documents exhibit continuity.
- Attends search warrant scenes and assists with digital evidence collection.
- Acts as a resource person for investigators by providing technical expertise related to digital evidence.
- Provides in-house training for staff in the areas of digital evidence.
- Maintains computer/mobile forensic equipment and validates forensic tools and software.
- Prepares research of new equipment and training.
- Attends required and ongoing knowledge and skills training and professional development to maintain and enhance investigative, technical, and subject-matter knowledge relevant to the role.
Candidates must possess a degree or two (2) year diploma in Computer Forensics, or equivalent specialization as determined by AbbyPD, from a recognized post-secondary institution, supplemented by several years of work experience in a technical role. Applicants must have comprehensive knowledge of personal computing hardware, cellular communications, computer networking technologies, peripherals, including their operation. Experience with basic operating systems such as Windows, Linux and Mac OSx is required, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

The successful candidate will be a resourceful team player who can work both independently and collaboratively to manage complex investigations, ensuring successful investigative outcomes and mitigating risk.

Salary range: $113,838 - $127,608 based on 40-hour workweek
