Position: Director – Accounting & Financial Performance
Reporting To: VP Finance and Digital Transformation
Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Accounting and Financial Performance to lead our finance function. This role is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, cost control, and performance management across the business.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Director will play a critical role in driving financial strategy, ensuring strong governance, and supporting operational excellence. This position also assists in the implementation and optimization of financial systems, including ERP.
The Director of Accounting & Financial Performance oversees the full spectrum of accounting and financial performance activities, including:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Full-cycle Accounting Operations (AR, AP, GL)
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning
- Cost Control & Profitability Analysis
- Financial Systems & ERP Leadership
- Internal Controls & Governance
This role ensures the integrity of financial information while providing strategic insights to improve efficiency, scalability, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Direct the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.
- Own and lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and present insights to senior leadership.
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to cost control, margins, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee cost accounting practices, including job costing, project profitability, and COGS tracking.
- Implement and strengthen internal controls and financial governance frameworks.
- Lead variance analysis and provide actionable recommendations to improve performance.
- Partner with operations, procurement, and project management teams to optimize cost structures.
- Support tendering processes, pricing strategies, and contract financial evaluations.
- Identify and drive cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement of ERP systems.
- Manage and mentor the accounting and finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation (required).
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, and performance management.
- Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience in ERP implementation and financial systems optimization.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and Quebec tax and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Bilingual (French and English ).
