The Transit Supervisor role is a hands-on position that requires a strong knowledge of the transportation industry and area surrounding Cold Lake. This role has an on-call requirement for evenings and weekends.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delegate responsibilities to Transit Operators; schedule monthly hours
- Ensure the routes are covered in an efficient and fair manner
- Ensure that drivers and staff are treated in a fair and consistent manner using the guidelines and rules set out in the Driver’s Handbook
- Meet monthly with the Transit Drivers to discuss issues
- Train new Transit Drivers
- Assist in answering public and driver inquiries and finding solutions to concerns
- Inform Training & Development of open routes and monitor progression of new trainees
- Create and/or improve existing Operations systems and procedures
- Approve bi-weekly payroll (daily)
- Organize transit vehicle maintenance scheduling and parts ordering
- Liaise with customer
- Support operations needs where needed
Requirements:
- Class 2Q driver’s license
- Previous leadership/supervisory experience
- Transportation industry experience considered a definite asset
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally while exhibiting confidentiality and diplomacy
- HOS and auditing experience considered an asset
- Expertise in organizational planning and problem-solving
- Knowledge of WCB and Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Team player
