ABOUT THE POSITION
Wildhorse Saloon is looking for Bar Assistants to fill out their team on a full-time seasonal contract for the duration of the Calgary Stampede. Reporting to the Front of House Manager, the bar assistant is responsible for several functions including, but not limited to: assisting staff with delivering drinks, running food, stocking the bar, running drinks between store room and bars, preparing garnishes and citruses, table & bar maintenance, and cleaning tables to facilitate guest turnover.

WHAT YOU’LL GET

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Assist bar staff in setting up and taking down the bars.
- Help maintain cleanliness & order of all bar surfaces.
- Assist bar staff in maintaining and stocking supplies including but not limited to: retrieving ice, stocking fruit, tonics, juices, syrups, and other supplies.
- Change kegs, spouting bottles, emptying slop buckets, and other duties assigned by bar staff or management.
- Keep track of and run bottles/empties from bars to the storage room while keeping all storage areas organized and clean.
- Efficiently clear and clean tables to facilitate guest turnover.
- Assist bartenders with maintaining and stocking all areas of the bar. This includes but it not limited to: polishing glassware and plateware, stocking napkins, roll ups, table condiments and washroom supplies; sweeping, moping and wiping down all major surfaces.

- Be ready and willing to provide support as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the special event as directed by the Manager.
- Execute ad-hoc tasks as required.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- Previous restaurant or bar experience is preferred, but not required.
- Strong English communication skills and outgoing personality with ability to establish and develop relationships with both guests and team members.
- Must have a basic knowledge of the tent floor plan, service procedures and functions.
- Basic math skills, can handle money, and operate a point-of-sale system.
- A strong understanding of service procedures and functions.
- A valid Alberta ProServe Certification obtained prior to starting.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Capacity to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food or beverages frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds.
- Over 18 years of age as alcohol service and late-night availability is a requirement.
