About the Company
GNA Grinding & Machinery Inc. is an Ontario-based company specializing in machinery repair, equipment maintenance, and custom metal fabrication. As part of its operational expansion, the company is upgrading its internal network and system infrastructure to support connected equipment, warehouse operations, remote monitoring, and automation-related systems used in industrial environments.
Key Duties
- Design, install, configure, and maintain internal network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain network connectivity for industrial equipment, automation-related devices, and controllers using standard networking technologies such as TCP/IP, VLAN, and VPN.
- Support troubleshooting, connectivity validation, and system integration for network-connected equipment and backend systems during installation, deployment, and maintenance activities.
- Configure and maintain Windows and/or Linux servers, virtualized environments, backup systems, and data storage solutions.
- Monitor network and system performance, establish performance baselines, generate routine reports, and respond to operational or connectivity issues in a timely manner.
- Assist in implementing secure remote access and remote diagnostic solutions, including VPN and log collection systems.
- Maintain technical documentation including network diagrams, configuration records, maintenance logs, and change tracking documentation.
- Provide technical support to staff for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Support testing, deployment, and validation of new equipment and systems, including occasional evening or weekend work when required for maintenance or project deployment.
Requirements (Mandatory)
- College diploma or higher in Computer Systems Technology, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of full-time experience in network support or network technician roles.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting multi-vendor network equipment in business or industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, DHCP, DNS, routing, and switching concepts.
- Experience administering Windows or Linux servers and virtualized environments.
- Ability to read technical documentation and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical staff.
- Ability to manage multiple support tasks and respond to operational issues in a time-sensitive environment.
- Ability to work safely in industrial or workshop environments and provide occasional after-hours support when required.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Assets (Preferred but Not Mandatory)
- Experience with industrial automation, PLCs, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, or warehouse-related systems.
- Experience with remote monitoring, system logging, or diagnostic tools.
- Scripting or automation experience using Python, PowerShell, or similar tools.
- Experience working in multicultural or client-support environments.
