
Engineering Development Technician

Position OverviewThe City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Engineering Development Technician. Under the direction of the Manager, Development Engineering, the incumbent reviews, interprets, and approves construction design related to public works, new developments, and subdivisions, liaises with other internal and external departments and agencies, and provides technical support in connection with other development related issues and departmental planning.
QualificationsApplicants must have completed a diploma from a recognized technical institute in engineering, plus specialized courses related to civil engineering design supplemented with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in land development design and/or approval. Membership in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) as a Civil Technologist is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
Additional InformationThis is a CUPE bargaining unit position based on a 35-hour work week, and subject to Article 1(d) - Probationary Period as set out in the Union Collective Agreement. The hourly wage is $44.65, increasing to $47.00 after 60 working days (Jan 2026 Rates).
