We have an immediate opening for a full-time Journeyman Carpenter on our St. Albert/Edmonton-based team. The Projects You'll Be Working On
Our St. Albert/Edmonton-based team works across a variety of commercial and institutional project types including mixed-use developments, supportive housing, civic and municipal buildings, and multi-family residential. You'll be exposed to a range of scopes and project scales, giving you the opportunity to build your skills and your career with a growing general contractor servicing communities across Western Canada.
Your Responsibilities
As a Journeyman Carpenter at ACL, you'll be an experienced, capable contributor on site executing quality work, mentoring those around you, and taking ownership of your scope. Key responsibilities include:
- Execute carpentry work to a high standard across multiple scopes: wood framing, interior and exterior finishing, concrete formwork, rebar layout and tying, hardware installation, and related work
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings independently; flag discrepancies or concerns to your Foreman
- Take ownership of daily task completion and contribute to project schedule adherence
- Mentor and support apprentices and less experienced crew members share your knowledge and raise the level of the team
- Identify quality issues and deficiencies proactively; bring solutions, not just problems
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with ACL and OHS standards
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and orientations as required
- Communicate material needs and site issues to your Foreman or Superintendent clearly and promptly
- Operate tools and equipment safely; take accountability for the tools and resources in your care
Skills & Qualifications
- Journeyman Carpenter Certificate (Interprovincial or Alberta) required
- Experience with commercial carpentry scopes: wood framing, concrete formwork, interior/exterior finishing, thermal and moisture systems
- Ability to read blueprints and work from technical drawings independently
- Proven ability to mentor others and contribute to a positive, high-performing team
- Valid driver's license (driver's abstract required if operating ACL vehicles)
- Strong commitment to safety it's not optional here
