Position Summary
NPower Canada is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fundraising Intern to support our Development team. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor engagement, grant research, and fundraising administration within a mission-driven organization.
The intern will work closely with the Development team to support fundraising initiatives, maintain donor records, assist with grant writing, and contribute to donor and volunteer engagement activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain practical experience in the nonprofit sector while developing professional skills in fundraising and stakeholder communications.
Training, mentorship, and ongoing guidance will be provided throughout the placement.
Please note that we can only offer unpaid internships/co-ops that are formally connected to a post-secondary institution through a co-op or academic placement program. The placement must be tied to academic credit or required hours, and the institution typically provides WSIB coverage and a formal agreement with our organization.
This role is open to candidates across Canada. While this position does not require bilingualism, French language proficiency is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Support
- Research potential funding opportunities, including foundations, corporations, and government grants.
- Assist with drafting grant applications, donor communications, and fundraising materials.
- Support the collection of program data, testimonials, and impact information for reports and proposals.
- Help maintain and organize donor and fundraising records.
- Assist with donor stewardship and engagement initiatives.
- Support fundraising and donor-focused events and engagement activities.
Administrative & Research Support
- Support tracking and reporting on fundraising activities and donor engagement.
- Conduct research on fundraising trends, funding opportunities, and nonprofit best practices.
- Assist with general administrative tasks related to the Development team.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary program in Fundraising, Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Strong interest in nonprofit fundraising and donor engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn.
- Experience with event coordination, customer service, or volunteer engagement is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset but is not required.
