Reporting to the Director, Population Health or designate, the successful candidate will plan, implement, and evaluate public health programs and services.
The incumbent will:
- Lead the development, monitoring, and evaluation of program operational plans
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and guidelines to facilitate program and divisional operations
- Prepare budget forecasts and annual operational budgets
- Allocate and monitor human and financial resources to meet program needs
- Conduct all aspects of performance management for assigned staff including coaching, mentoring and staff
development
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards of practice and collective agreements
- Resolve routine labour relations matters and consult with the Director, Population Health or designate as needed
- Collaborate with community agencies, internal and external partners to support health promoting policy and program
decisions
- Respond to public health emergencies and time sensitive issues of public health significance
- Ensure continuous quality improvement for public health programs and services
- Participate in hiring and design and implementation of staff orientation
- Represent the Population Health Division (PHD) on divisional, departmental, and external committees
- Participate in the PHD Management Committee to achieve the goals and directions of the Division
The successful applicant must possess:
- A Baccalaureate in Nursing and a Master of Nursing, Public Health, or related discipline
- Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum of 3 years Management experience in a public health or comparable setting
- Proven ability to lead the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of public health programs and services
- Established management and leadership competencies, including strategic thinking, effective decision making, change
management, coaching and mentoring
- Ability to manage teams including skills in facilitation, team building, negotiation, and conflict management
- Sound knowledge of applicable legislation including the HPPA and Ontario Public Health Standards
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated communication skills including report writing and presentations
- Demonstrated ability to develop diverse talent through inclusive leadership practices
- Previous management experience in a unionized environment is an asset
