Job Description Equipment Operator III (Operations)
Join the City of Port Moody’s Engineering & Operations team as an Equipment Operator III and play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the community’s infrastructure. The City of Port Moody is seeking an enthusiastic and hard working individual to safely operate a variety of machinery and mobile equipment involved in Engineering & Operations. In this hands-on position, you’ll support essential municipal services that keep our city safe, clean, and connected. As an Equipment Operator III your responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:- Operate, clean and provide minor maintenance for a variety of equipment including street sweeper, backhoe loader, tandem and single axle dump trucks with attachments, one ton dump trucks, utility vans and other light City vehicles as required;
- Perform routine, manual, semi-skilled maintenance activities on City infrastructure including the water distribution system, sanitary sewer collection system, and storm water collection system as well as related appurtenances; surface drainage infrastructure; asphalt and concrete surfaces; road markings and signs; along with vegetation and debris removal and winter road maintenance; and
- Be responsible for operating a variety of hand tools, acting as traffic control person, responding to emergencies, responding to customer service requests and keeping simple related records.
Qualifications and experience you will bring to our Equipment Operator III role:- Minimum grade 12 graduation;
- Minimum three years of experience operating, maintaining, or constructing municipal infrastructure;
- Experience operating equipment and hand tools associated with municipal infrastructure maintenance;
- Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to perform heavy, manual, outdoor labour in all weather conditions;
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License; and
- Class 3 Driver's License with Air Endorsement is required.
