ABOUT YOUYou are an energetic and highly motivated individual who is available to instruct Barre, Pilates, Older Adult, and/or Zumba classes. You have an excellent understanding of class facilitation associated with these specialty certifications and are skilled at proper and safe use of a variety of equipment during each class. You have experience teaching in a community setting. You are a team player who is committed to community recreation. You are reliable, responsive to customer needs, and excellent at building relationships. You are courteous and effective with the public and enjoy working with a diverse group of people with varying fitness levels. In addition, you are experienced in:
- Creating a supportive and engaging environment for participants of all ability levels.
- Adapting exercises to meet varying mobility and experience levels, with a focus on safety.
- Effective communication with participants and recreation staff.
- Tracking attendance and reporting any issues or concerns to your supervisor.
- Maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor as a representative of North Vancouver Recreation and Culture.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will be certified in Pilates, Barre, Older Adult and/or Zumba from a recognized provider and have a current certification in Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED.
You have excellent knowledge and ability to modify exercises for participants as required. Previous experience teaching group classes in a community setting is preferred.
Hours may vary and instructors should be prepared to work at all times of the day including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position.
HOURLY RATE: The pay for this casual position is $34.80 per hour, based on education and experience, plus 4% vacation pay.
