We have an awesome opportunity to add a Shipping Associate to our Warehouse team! This is a unique position is for our day shift, which runs Monday to Friday 6:30am to 3:00pm. The successful candidate will have positive and results- driven attitude with a strong focus on safety.
What you'll do:
In this key role, you will be the first point of contact for all shipping related issues. In addition to resolving any challenges, you will also be expected to perform the following job duties:
- Order Processing - invoice all outbound orders ensuring accuracy and preparing them shipment.
- Packaging - properly package items to prevent damage during transit.
- Labeling & Documentation - Printing shipping labels, attaching them to packages & completing necessary paperwork such as customs forms for international shipments.
- Quality Control - inspect items for defects or damage before shipping, adhere to internal quality standards.
- Shipping Coordination - coordinate with preferred carriers to schedule and book outbound loads. Ensure that all loads are shipped on time and proactively escalate any issues to management where required.
- Warehouse Organization - maintain a clean and organized work area, including shelving, bins and storage spaces.
- Communication - communicate with team members, supervisors and sometimes customers regarding order status, delays or issues.
- Safety Compliance - follow all internal safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques, and using protective gear.
- Equipment Operation - operate tools and equipment like pallet jacks, forklifts and hand trucks if required.
- Continuous improvement - consolidate freights and look for opportunities to reduce costs.
- Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of previous logistics experience preferable in a Distribution environment.
- Must be forklift certified in a variety of types of forklifts.
- Experience using ERP systems would be considered an asset.
- Experienced user of the Microsoft Suite of Office Products.
- You have awesome attention to detail - quality workmanship is important to you and something you pride yourself on!
- You know how to keep yourself and your workload organized while keeping shipments flowing according to schedule.
- You can communicate effectively with other departments and maintain positive and professional working relationships with others.
- You are a natural problem solver and can effectively identify issues and find resolutions to avoid unexpected situations.
- You are not afraid of change and can easily adapt to changing priorities.
- You have reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
- You are available to work overtime occasionally.
- You have and are able to wear steel toe safety boots daily.
- You are legally to work in Canada.
